By Vito La Fata

It is a delicate subject, but one so crucial to your health that we should not ignore it. It is about your fiber intake. Are you getting enough? Fiber is the part of a plant that is hard for your body to digest. In fact, there are some kinds of fiber that your body can't digest at all. And that is what makes it so good for you.

After you eat a meal, your body begins pulling the nutrients from the food you eat. What is leftover is then discharged from your body as waste. This waste has toxic products in it. The way to make this waste exit your body is to eat more fiber. If you do not get enough fiber, the waste will sit in your digestive tract for a long time.

The more time it takes to eliminate this waste, the more toxins are released into your body. These can make you sick and they can even cause you to get cancer. But if you eat plenty of fiber, you can stay healthy and it can even help you to lose extra pounds!

However, there is an easy way to keep yourself health and to help yourself lose weight. All you have to do is eat more fiber in your diet. If you are a woman, you should eat about twenty five grams of fiber every day. If you are a man, try to get at least thirty eight grams of fiber every day. Fiber comes from plant foods, so try to eat lots of plants.

You can add more fiber to your diet in many ways. For example, the grams of fiber in foods is usually printed on the label. Also, when you are eating fruits and vegetables, you should eat the skin whenever it is practical to do so.

Next, choose 100% whole grain. When you buy bread, tortillas, crackers or pasta, make sure you get 100% whole grain products. If it does not say whole grain, then nearly all of the fiber has been removed. Eating white flour slows your system down
